Found in Samaria north of Jerusalem, Holy Land
The Samaritans lamps were probably manufactured and distributed with the discus closed. This method insured that; according to the purity laws of the Samaritans, the lamps would never receive impurity. The buyer of the lamp would break the discus himself, thus assuring that the lamp is pure.
