Ancient Roman Limestone Head Of A Youth, 100 - 300 Ad
Ancient Roman Limestone head of a youth with deeply carved eyes, unruly hair and wearing a ceremonial headdress or modius, dating to approximately 200 AD.

This striking Roman Sculpture bears similarities with work produced in what is now Syria and the Levant. It is likely that he was dedicated as a votive figure in a shrine to a God. This is evidenced by the coarsely worked areas to the back of the head, which are not finished to the same degree of detail as the front - the figure was meant to be standing with his back to the wall in a temple.

Measurements: Height: 12.5 cm - Width: 9 cm -Height on stand: 22.5 cm

Condition: Good condition, not repaired and not restored
